Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialised form of physiotherapy that helps treat vertigo, dizziness, and balance problems, particularly when symptoms are triggered by movement or changes in position.

These symptoms are often caused by disorders affecting the inner ear or neck.

Conditions We Treat

Vestibular therapy can be effective for:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Vestibular neuritis
  • Vestibular migraine
  • Cervicogenic vertigo (dizziness originating from the neck)

How Vestibular Therapy Works

Treatment is tailored to your specific condition and symptoms. After a professional assessment, your physiotherapist may use one or more of the following approaches:

  • Canalith repositioning manoeuvres – Head movements to help reposition crystals in the inner ear (commonly used for BPPV)
  • Balance and gaze stability exercises – Designed to retrain the vestibular system and improve coordination
  • Manual therapy and neck exercises – Used when vertigo is linked to neck dysfunction (cervicogenic vertigo)

Do I Need Vestibular Rehabilitation?

If you're experiencing dizziness, unsteadiness, or vertigo that worsens with movement, vestibular rehabilitation may help. Proper diagnosis is essential to determine the cause and guide effective treatment. Our physiotherapists are trained to assess and manage these conditions.
